MONTESSORI INFORMATION

Heaven’s Best Montessori

Children’s House-serves children ages 3-6 years old. Children need to have toilet independence in the Children’s House.

Heaven’s Best Montessori is “A place where we foster the love for learning”. We use the Montessori approach to educate our students. Dr Maria Montessori founded the first Children’s House, the Casa Dei Bambini in Rome, Italy. She has a scientific method that has been proven to help children reach their full potential. Through her approach we focus on the whole child aiding in developing social, emotional, cognitive, mindfulness, physical, and language development. In our classrooms the children are free to explore and receive individualized lessons in all the following areas; Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, Geography/Cultural Studies, Science, Art, and Music and Movement. In the classroom environment we promote concentration, coordination, order, and independence. Children are empowered to be their “BEST”, give their “BEST”, and do their “BEST”. We desire to create a home away from home feel in our community and program. The most important thing is to have a FUN learning experience!

About our Community- We are a 5 days per week and 3 days per week program with flexible options for half-day, extended day, and full day programs (please see the tuition rates section). Practical Life- This is where we bring the home into the environment and build practical skill sets that the child will utilize through-out their growth and development. This is also the area that is the foundational piece to the life of Montessori. The child develops a sense of concentration, coordination, order, and independence while focusing on redefining their fine motor skills.

Sensorial- This is the area where we focus on developing the five senses by isolating one sense at a time. Focusing on developing the Olfactory, Visual, Gustatory, Tactile, and Auditory senses through hands-on material.

Language- This is the area where we take the phonetic approach to developing the child for letter/sound recognition, and pre-reading skills, writing skills, and developing their fluency in reading. This area explores expressive and receptive language skills, learning CVC words, decoding and building vocabulary skills.

Math- understanding how to match quantity to symbols. This work can range from work with simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, learning to tell time, to graphing and writing and solving equations.

Geography/Cultural Studies- This is the area where we explore the world around us by first understanding where we are in the world. The child will learn to explore the continents, by using the geography maps. They will learn about different cultures by exploring the various material from continent files to biomes, and books.

Science- This is the area of exploration and discovery. Children will be able to contribute to group activities, research through books and material. The child will be able to unlock the mysteries of science in this area.

Art- This is the area where the child will be able to express their creative side through learning about different artists, and different art forms.

Music and Movement- Children need movement and through this area of the classroom the child is open to learning rhythm, using the music books, music instruments, and musical bells to learn the basic principles of music. Also, they will sing, and explore music from all genres
